I'm back to show you what I've been up to in these couple of weeks, in between work! I've been making 1/2" hexies, now I have 100 done and will need...hmmm...5,000 for my project !!! A loooong way to go, but will get there some day !!!

'Rainbow Girl' finished quilt...

So this is the finished quiltie, I love it and is now hanging in my home. I have to admit, I didn't like paper piecing a lot before making this little quiltie but now I'm hooked with foundation paper piecing !!! I already began a new project that will show you soon !!

Ohh, and my partner Tacha received her DQS8 quiltie and she liked it so I'm very happy !!!

I have to apologise to all you wonderful friends that have left comments here and I couldn't reply to them, hope I can get back on track soon and visit all of your fantastic blogs !!!

Here has been a little bit crazy as we had our I Latinamerican Quilt Show and I took part in some workshops and I'm very tired right now. Lots and lots of info in such a little time frame !!! But the wonderful news is that I have lots of pics to show you soon !!!

DQS8 quiltie received...

I received my gorgeous DQS8 quiltie !!!!! YES !!! It looks like a modern piece of art, it's just wonderful !!!

Like an explosion of color, so cool !!!

And it arrived in a fantastic box with the sweetest card and some wonderful extras: a pen, a notebook, chocolate, tissue and lovely Simplicity scraps, which I already am cutting into pieces !!! YUMMY !!!!

Thank you soooo much, Sara of Kindred Crafters, I was really spoilt by you !!! I love my quiltie and extras !!!

DQS8 quiltie sent...

I promised to show you the quiltie I sent to my partner on the DQS8, so here it is !!!

I made this third quiltie because I thought the last two weren't entirely my partner's style. Although she had a rainbow circle of geese and an embroidered girl as her favorites I unsderstood she liked lots of houses best, yes, she has lots and lots of houses as her favorites, so I decided to go for houses this time. Not my personal favorite, I don't like houses on quilts, but let me tell you, in the end, I have to admit I fell in love with the quiltie and had a hard time letting it go !!! I just hope it will make my partner happy !!!

I used as many Heather Bailey's fabric as I had as my partner likes them and so do I !!

I also sent her a little extra but didn't take pics of that, sorry!

I'm back !!!

So I'm back after a month !!! Can't believe how time flies !!! I've been on vacations and when I returned from them I found sooo much to do and organize for the beginning of the year ( here in Argentina classes begin on March, and people often take vacations on January or February, so the working craziness begins in March for most of us).

I really missed you all as I couldn't visit blogs, only left some comments on the DQS8 Flickr Pool so my partner would have a sense of my tastes.

Although I haven't been blogging I've been sewing a little. I started a second doll quilt as I thought my partner didn't like my first option with the dresden plate. This time I made a rainbow circle of flying geese...

And then I thought of adding an embroidery in the middle of the circle. I decided to go with this girl reading a book in the forest, as my partner had one similar as a favorite.

A sneak peek of the binding, all finished now !!

But, although I had wonderful and kind comments from other group members, I guess my partner didn't like it either ( and I say this because my partner always makes comments on the pics that she likes ).

So I started and almost finished a third quiltie !!!! And this one is the final one, that will travel tomorrow to...

Finally Finished !!!

I'm sooo happy I finally finished my Neighborhood Row Cross-Stitch Stitchery, it's my first finish for this year !!!!! Woooo Hooooo

I began cross stitching this last year and wanted to finish it sooo badly that it was one of my goals for January, together with my 'Madonna Sixtina' embroidery, which has been left apart just a bit these last couple of days !!! Poor angels, they won't have their wings soon this way, but I'm sooo happy that I have one cross stitch project less to finish, and let me tell you, my list is looooong !!!!

So, here it is, in all its glory !!!! Now I just have to decide what to make with it !!!! LOL

DQS8 quiltie and embroidery progress...

I know I promised to share this with you yesterday, but I was all day in bed because of a food poisoning,

I guess...that was terrible !!

So here I am, back with some pics to show you !!

First is my progress on the DQS8. All cut is done, actually I finished cutting the dresdens on Sunday, but couldn't touch my sewing machine since then !!!

I hope you all like it as I guess my partner does not !!! I'm thinking of starting over right now with a different idea and sketch. Well, we'll see...But at least I'll make mine, I do like it and can't wait to get it done !!!

So sorry for the white background, I didn't want to iron...yeah, I know...I'm lazy, but to my defense...I hate ironing !!!! That's the worst part of quilting !!!

By the way, which is the part you hate the most about quilting??? I'd love to know !! Just for fun !!!

Second is my progress on my 'Madonna Sixtina' embroidery. As you can see, not much going on here. I hope I'll have much more to show you in two weeks !!!

Beginning of DQS8 quiltie...

Thise year I will slow down on swaps because I just want to focus in making some quilts for me and my family, but I couldn't resist to take part in the Doll Quilt Swap 8 !! It's the second time I participate in this swap and I love it ! This time I got a gorgeous partner that has lots of favorites and she just adds more day after day !!! She has clear ideas of what she likes so it was easy for me to think about what I'm gonna make for her. I sketched something already but decided to change a little that concept.

And these are some of the fabrics I'm using for the quiltie, do you see a pattern here?

Well, let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE what I'm making for my partner, I love it soo much that I'm making one for me too !!! Yes !!! I'm making two quilts at the same time with slight differences !!!

Will show you the pieces as soon as I cut them all, hope by tomorrow, and I'll also show you how my 'Madonna Sixtina' embroidery is going. I decided to show you the embroidery every two weeks, if not you'll get bored to see it A LOT around here, it may take me A WHILE to get it done !!! LOL

Angel to the rescue...

Last year I took part in lots of swaps (I promise it won't be like that this year, will definitely slow down on that!) and two of my partners were MIA !!! I never received my Good Ol' Summer Time Mini Quilt and my Friendship bag and that was really SAD and DISSAPOINTING !!!

But a kind lady I met through this marvellous world of blogs came to my rescue and offered herself to be an Angel for the Summer Mini Quilt and the Friendship Bag swaps. That kind and generous Angel is Béa from Une Aiguille Dans Une Botte de Foin, and her gorgeous gifties arrived to lift my faith in humanity!

Look at what I got!!! A wonderful Summer quilt that will look gorgeous as a tablerunner also !!! It has SUMMER written all over it !!! Yummy cherries and my favorite colors !!!!

She really knows my tastes !! LOL

And this cute matching Friendship Bag, just stunning !! Will use it for my embroidery threads !!!

And she included a sweet card also! I love all of the gifties !!

Monday Focus Project Week # 1...

Hi you all, I hope you had a great New Year's Day and that you begin 2010 with renewed goals and wishes !!!

I have to apologize for not replying to your comments but I haven't been at home for some days now and I'm slowly replying to them, thank you soooo much for your kind comments and wishes for 2010 !!! Hope you have the best year full of accomplishments and WISPs finished !!!

So I decided to join May Britt's idea and focus each Monday on a project for the coming week to work on, and blog about it. But I made a tiny change to the whole concept. I'm focusing in only ONE project to hand stitch until I finish. And I'll blog about my progress each Monday, so that'll make me work on it and finish it quickly !!!

So...here it is... I introduce you to my WISP # 1 for this year !!!

'La Madonna Sixtina', a counted cross stitch paint that I started 3 years ago and now I'm determined to finish as I want to frame it for a special spot in my house that's waiting for it !!

Advent Swap...My gift for Angela...

My last package finally arrived to Angela and I'm ANGRY as it was destroyed by the not so decent people at customs !!! Two things 'magically dissappeared from the package, luckily my gift # 1 to Angela arrived safe and sound!!!

I made her this 2010 calendar holder quilt with the 'Casa Dolce Casa' saying (Home Sweet Home) in italian, and she liked it and hung it in her kitchen. I'm so happy that she liked it !!! You can see her post here. I tried to make it in a country style that she likes, I'm glad I succeeded although it's not my style ! LOL

I used this tutorial to make the calendar holder quilt.

A little quilt for Oliver...

This is what I've been working on, it's a little quilt, baby quilt size I guess, for my dog Oliver.

He loves everything in fabric or yarn so I decided to make him his own quilt...Mmmm, I'll let you in on a little secret...he already tried it !!! But it's not finished yet, I still have to quilt and bind, the worst part, I know, but I love both of them because I'm closer to finishing my little piece !!!

September STUD Sent and Received...

I took part in STUD's (Swap Till U Drop, a Flickr Group) Anniversary Swap in September and my partner for that month was Bec from Australia. We had to make a Mini with the 1st Anniversary Theme, so it could include yellow, gold, a clock, carnations (a flower that I hate), etc, all things related to a 1st year Anniversary.

As my partner liked some of the Minis I had done I chose to make one with a little birdie on it,
similar to the one I sent to my Summertime Mini Quilt Swap partner.

So much yellow going on here !!!

And look at the gorgeous quiltie that Bec made for me !!! She chose the clock as a theme and she made me a Quilter's clock, and I LOOVE it !!! Her sewing machine does wonderful embroidery !!!

It's already up and running in my sewing room, counting every minute I get to do what i love the most...QUILTING AND EMBROIDERY !!!

Angel Swap Received...

When I arrived home I found a package that came all the way from Germany, and it was from my Stitcher's Angel Anett of Allerlei aus Stoff !!! I opened it right away !!! Ohhh My Goodness !!!! She made such a terrific job with her gifties !!!

This is the great package that she sent me !!! Thank you Anett !!!

I love Christmas, redwork and one of my favorite colors is red,
and she embroidered this gorgeous quiltie for me. Look at all the details !
She hand quilted it, it's so perfect, and the fabrics she chose are lovely !!!

Halloween Block Swap ...

Look at the great cutie that arrived in my mailbox !!! Isn't it the cutest Witchie Hat ever?? I just LOVE it !!!

I made a private swap with Mel from Mel's Own Place and she sent me her gorgeous paper pieced witchie hat, but that was NOT all, she added a fabric envelope, a super gorgeous Mini Witchie Hat and a fabulous Button with the Witchie hat embroidered on it !!!

Mel, you rock !!! I loved all of the goodies and will make a super fun quilt when I finish all of my blocks !!! Thank you, thank you, thank you sooo much !!! I just hope you like yours !!!

Tutorial: Fabric Origami Flower...

Hi everyone!

This is my first tutorial ever, so I hope to be clear enough and make it easy for you so there'll be lots of fabric origami flowers growing on your sewing gardens!!!

Many of you have said to me that you liked these little flowers and a lot have asked about how do I make them, so here's my humble way to say Thank You for all of your comments and interest!! If you have any doubt don't hesitate to send me an e-mail, I'll be happy to clear all doubts!.

Materials you'll need (forgot to take a picture, sorry!):

- Fabric, a piece larger enough to cut 10 to 12 squares,

-Matching thread and needle.

Be sure to have your needle threaded before starting, with a tiny knot at the end.

-Scissors,

-Beads or buttons covered with the same or different fabric to use as embelishment for the center of the flower.

Begin cutting your squares. The bigger the flower size, the more squares you'll need. I used 3.5" and 1" squares for the ones pictured above. For the big one I needed 12 3.5"squares and for the smaller one I used 10 1" squares. It also depends in the fabric, if it's a heavier one you'll probably need less squares.

Begin placing your first square with the right side of the fabric facing down, and fold diagonally. Finger press.

You'll end up having a triangle.

A little tip that I learned making tons of them. If you want a certain print to appear in the middle of your petal, be sure to place it facing towards you when you fisrt fold it, as the little rosebud you see above.

Take the upper corner of the triangle and meet the lower point with it.

Do the same with the other upper corner so both meet at the bottom point. Now you have two little triangles, to the right and left .Finger press firmly.

Pressing firmly take your folded square and turn it over so that the folded seams face down.

Remember your little triangles? Bring the right corner and fold it towards the center of the square.

Do the same with the left corner so both meet at the center of the square. Always finger press. Warning!! They'll try to escape and unfold, don't let them!!!

Now you have to fold the straight edges together, one on top of the other...

You'll end up with a shape like the one in the right. Finger press the folded edges and the middle, and don't let go !!!

Remember the threaded needle?? It's time to use it and it's a good thing you had it prepared because if not your petal will completelly unfold and you'll have to start over!

Just make two or three stitches to hold the folded seams in place and cut the thread.

You'll be looking at this shape now. The left one is the back and the right one is the right side of your petal. Remember the tip I gave you at the beginning? Any print you left facing you in the first step/fold will now be visible in the center of the petal.

Now it's time for the scissors! Cutt off the unnecessary fabric at the bottom of your petal. This way it'll be easier to gather them up once you're finished with all of them..

Congratulations!!! You made your first petal, now you have to make the others!!!

When you have all of them it's time to gather them up. Make sure you tied a knot in a double thread and begin to string them, one next to the other until you have all of them strung together. Then pass the needle back through the first three petals to secure them and form the circle. Pull, but not too tight as the petals will move and the flower will lose its shape.

This is the flower you'll end up having...

It will look like this at the back.

Just sew the finishing touches to embelish the center of the flower, or glue them if you don't want to sew.

You could also sew or glue a little circle of felt at the back of the flower and sew or glue a little brooch to it to make a flower brooch . You could also glue them to hair clips for girls or use as decoration for a bag or quiltie...Possibilities are endless!!! Enjoy !!!

I told my partner and she said she was going to send me another one but didn't receive that either(although I waited for it a looooot of time and finally gave up!).

I have to apologise to my giveaway winners because I just couldn't mail your packages yet. The last 15 days have been a roller coaster! First my sewing machine had problems, so I couldn't sew the last stitches on your gifties until this weekend when I finally had it back from the shop! She had the hiccups, really! She jumped stitches and then finally got stuck when I tried to thread it! Lots of times! She wouldn't even stitch once !

Then last week I made a very intelligent move!!! I ate seafood!!! Imagine the rest of it!! Food poisoning, bed rest and a terrible headache for three days!! Well, let me tell you, I learned my lesson but can't say I won't eat seafood again, I just LOVE it!!! As much as I love chocolate !!

I will send your gifties tomorrow morning, so expect them soon! And a big SORRY for you again !!!

Scrappy Christmas blocks...

Back in July, when I still had Internet access, I signed up for a Scrappy Christmas Block Swap.

We could choose to have 3 or 6 partners and had to make 2 scrappy blocks for each of them following this tutorial.

These are the ones I sent to my partners in USA, a set of two to each of my three partners.

I have to admitt I sent them after the deadline because I had problems with the size of the blocks (btw, I was not the only one, lots of people had that same problem!).

So when I was about to send the packages I realized the blocks were 1/2" short, so I had to make all of the 6 blocks again and then had problems with the last 2 strips!!!! Nightmare!!!

Finally I won and sent them last week, a few days later but with the right size!!!

After thinking a lot about what my partner would like I decided i'd go for circles inbright pastels, then I thought they weren't enough and decided to add a little butterfly just to give it a little bit of fun.

And I realised it was too many circles with no other thing in the middle...well, at this stage I decided to make a little embroidery and began to browse all the pics and patterns I have for embroideries (lots of fun here!!!), and decided I'd stitch a little girl I saw one day, long time ago, at the Embroidery Flickr Pool (sorry, I don't have the link to it, but I guess it's still there, or if you want it I'll gladly e-mail it to you). This was a drawing that had stitched bubbles around it and the girl was blowing them. I fell in love!

So I hand copied the drawing for the little girl and embroidered it. But she was alone in the middle of a white fabric ! I thought of grass under her feet but didn't like the way it looked, and then...TA DA !!! I remembered The Little Prince on his planet and decided to build my little girl a planet for her!!! There she was, blowing away her dandelion on her little planet with lots of bright cirles and a butterfly to make her company!!!

I just wish my partner likes her !I do!

I used needle turn appliqué for the circles and raw edge machine appliqué for the butterfly. I embroidered the little girl with backstitch, and ended up with stippling, Done, off to its new home in...

Look what I've received in the mail lately ! I'm a super dooper happy girl !!!
Ohh, well, not a girl, but I like to think I'm still one at the bottom of my heart.

Last week a postcard arrived, and it was from my Secret Angel at the Stitcher's Angel Swap, and I love it ! The stamp says Deutschland (Germany) but I could be wrong if I think she's from Germany, maybe she made a relative send the postcard from Germany so she won't reveal her location!

Who knows...She's so kind, I just replied her mail because this was a hectic work week and I'm taking this Sunday for myself, to do what I love the best...SEW !!! And blogging !!! LOL

Then on Friday my eyes popped when I saw the fabric I've been waiting for soooo long time, it finally made it here !!! Yummy Two Young Street by Prints Charming fabrics. Béa was my partner for the DQS7 and she sent me the cutest embroidered quiltie !!! I'm soooo happy !!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it !!!

She embroidered a design from Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches with cute little birdies, flowers and friends. She chose the colors I like and made a cute checkered border and a grid quilting that is so neat !!

so I 'borrowed' hers from her blog. Can you believe it, not only does she make wonderful quilts, but she takes gorgeous photos too !

My PC is back!!! And so am I !!!

I'm back!!! Finally !!! Let me tell you it was torture !!! I've been without Internet access for a month !!! A virus attacked my PC and it was BAD !!! It took forever to get it repaired, and back and running again, but it's DONE, now I feel I belong to planet earth again, at least to a modern one!!! LOL

It was NOT FUN at all !! I couldn't blog, or send e-mails to you all, or leave comments on other blogs and I couldn't even visit other blogs! And let me tell you, you girls are really hard working, I found tons of posts when I began browsing just a couple of blogs, I think I will never catch up with the reading !!! But I promiss I'll do my best !!!

I worked with my old PC but it doesn't have an Internet connection so I borrowed my friend's laptop when I needed Internet but only for work purposes. I was so tempted to spent hours browsing your blogs but it wasn't my PC and she needed for her work also, so I waited and waited and the day finally arrived, I'm back!

I have lots of things to tell you and to show you, and I'll do that in the next posts, I just wanted to say 'Hi' to you all and 'I'm sorry' to all of you who have visited my blog over the past month and didn't find a new post.

Ohhh, and I didn't forget about the giveaway I promised for my birthday, back in July 31st, I'll be announcing it on August 31st, so be prepared !!

Spring Blooms Mini Quilt received...

IT ARRIVED, YESSSS!!!!!! And let me tell you, it was worth the wait !!!!!

I'm sooooo happy that I have it here to admire and pamper, still didn't find the right place for it, I want it to be a great place, so I'm still thinking, but meanwhile...I admire it every time I pass near it!!! LOL

This is the LOVELY quilt that Toni of Scrappy Stuff made exclusively for me, she herself batik and hand-dyed the fabrics some time ago and used them for me!!! Thank you Toni for that!!! I really LOVE the effect you achieved, especially the one in the middle, at the lower part of the leaf, that little bit with yellow is just gorgeous!!!

Oh My Gosh, it has so many things going on that it blows my mind!!

I hope you appreciate all of the beautiful work she's done in the quilt!!! I just hope the picture does it justice!!!

She appliquéd leaves, stitched beading, charms, a lovely butterfly button, painted with metallic paint and finally she made a gorgeous quilting with variegated thread, she quilted fantastic leaves all around!!! Just stunning!!!

She also wrote a beautiful phrase as part of the leaf: "Whatever is true...what is kind...be of like mind". Lovely saying, Toni!!! Thank you soooo much!!!

I just can't thank you enough!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!! I'll treasure it !!!

Tammy sent me a sweet card, an adorable and cute Annie doll that I LOOOVE, a gorgeous pincushion with pink ric rac and a beautiful flower appliqué, and polka dot fabric!! Thank you soooo much Tammy, I love all of the goodies you sent me, especially the Raggeddy Annie that will pamper together with all of my other Annies, she already has a special place in my home! There has been a lot of sewing going on lately but, as it's all for different swaps, I can't show the end results yet. But I do have some sneak peeks for you!

SNEAK PEEK # 1

These are the first cut pieces for the Mini Quilt I'm making for my partner of 'In the Good Ol' Summertime Mini Quilt Swap' organized by the Quilting Gallery. I'm really having fun with it, and let me tell you, it'll yell Summer!

I LOVE this one, as it's done with Amy Buttler and Heather Bailey's fabrics that I personally love, and so does my partner for the July Summer Lovin' STUD swap on Flickr. She's from Germany and we have almost the same tastes!! So, it wasn't difficult just to grab gorgeous fabrics and begin sewing. It's pieced, needle turn appliquéd, and machine quilted. I only have the binding and label to finish, gather some gorgeous extras and send it over to Germany, to be pampered by daveandsusi! I hope she likes it!

Pincushion Swap Received...

Hi you all!

It's been a long time since I last posted!

I'm HAPPY!!! Yesterday, when I arrived home, I was handled a package from Heidi, and I quickly read the label outside the box and it said...Pincushion!! I ran to my house and opened it, and was thrilled!!! Heidi has REALLY SPOILED ME !!!

Look what she sent me!!! First of all a really cute card with lovely words in it! Thank you, Heidi! It's the cutest card ever, it glitters!

Look at the wrapping, sweet bags with ribbons in red and green, two of my favourite colors!!!

It's so yummy that I almost ate the whole package! LOL

LOOK AT THE LOOT! Gorgeous!!!

First of all, the piece the ressitance, the pincushion!!! She was extremelly generous to include not one, not two, not three...but FIVE PINCUSHIONS!!! Three big and two small with the cutest strawberry shape!!! Heidi, you didn't know this, but I LOVE strawberries and already have two strawberry pincushions and am making the third, I just LOVE them !!! I love pincushions and have a little collection, and with this wonderful addition I'm thinking of where to display them!!! They are too special not to show them off! Of course, I'll use one of them, I just have to decide... I can't just pick one, I love them all!!

She added wonderful sewing notions!! Look!!!Gorgeous laces, ribbons and trims!!! I just love them all, especially the leaves, the inches and the 'Friends Forever' logo!!!

And then the icing of the cake!!! Metallic thread in red and pink (love them), a gorgeous DMC green embroidery thread and spools!

Heidi, I just can't thank you enough for the wonderful package you put together for me, I LOVE all the goodies, it's so me, I think you have a magic ball and read minds!! LOL

I guess it's about to arrive to its new home, so I thought of posting about it. My partner likes color pink, so I used pink fabrics from my stash and made one of my favourite pincushions that May Britt's explains terribly good on a tutorial at her blog, here. Thank you May Britt! I loved the end result and I'm making one for me, for sure!!!

I also made my partner a scissors fob in cross stitch, it's a Matrioshka. And it's so sweet!

Then I added some sewing notions and off it went the package! I hope she likes it!

Joyful Spring Birdies...

This is the title I chose for my Mini Quilt that I sent to my partner for the Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap. It measures 12" x 12". I made the branches and birdies with the needle turn appliqué technique, and then hand embroidered their tails, beaks and legs. I also hand embroidered the 'Spring Time' words on the Mini Quilt with DMC variegated thread. The cherry blossoms are made with the origami technique. Finally I hand quilted musical notes on it. I hope my partner likes it!! I sure love it, guess why?? It has birdies and cherry blossoms on it! Love that combo! Now it's going to its new home far away from here...

Catherine's goodies arrived home and I'm thrilled!!!

I was lucky to win some gorgeous batik fabrics and a lovely fabric brooch at Catherine's The Sewing Attic and they are finally here!!! WOW, I'm HAPPY !!!!! I love the batiks and they are perfect for a project I've had in mind since last year. I only have to find the time to make it happen and that's the problem!!!! That's unfair, 24 hours is not enough !!! Days should definitelly have 26 hours at least !!!

They came in a nice package and she was so kind to also add some lovely buttons and velvet ric rac. And the best part is the gorgeous postcard she sent me of Whangamata, in New Zealand!! She's so lucky to live there, I'd love to live sorrounded by nature instead of buildings in the middle of the city!!!

I LOVED all of my goodies!!!

8" x 10" Swap goodie received...

Today arrived a beautiful piece from The Rhead Necklace (no blog) who was my second partner at the 8" x 10" Spring Swap. I received a beautiful print of a San Francisco Trolley,I love it! It's one of the cities I'd like to visit some day and I'd absolutely adore to take a trolley, and now I have a beautiful print of one of them that I will frame and hang in my office to dream about my trip to San Francisco. Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Progress...

Hi you all!
I'm here reporting the progress on my Spring Mini Quilt!

Do you remember the first sneak peek of it? Well, all the things were placed in a different position and the fabric origami flower was TOOOO big for those poor little birdies! The flowers you see now were done with 1,5" x 1,5" squares and, even though you won't believe it, they were easy to handle, until you try to put the flower together,
that's when things begin to mess up!! LOL But I loved all the process!!!

Finally the top is done! Now I have only the quilting and binding to make, YES !!!

It's definitelly a slow work but will hopefully be finished by the end of next week to begin its trip to its new home in...

The pincushion for the pincushion swap is finished and I'll ship it to its new home next Tuesday because I have to gather a few things to go along with it, and I have to go shopping (just a bit, I promise!!).

8" x 10" Swap received...

I received a beautiful hand knitted piece made out of bamboo yarn. Angelique hand knitted it herself and it's really warm and soft, I've never had seen or touched bamboo yarn before (we don't have it here) but I can tell you that I loved it, it's sooooooo soft!!!! The bamboo yarn piece is of a wonderful yellow and she added a charm in red that's really lovely! Thnk you Angelique, I love it so much! I hope you like the hand painted 8" x 10" piece I sent you!

Pincushion Swap Fabric...

Hi, I wanted to show you the fabrics I chose for my partner's pincushion in the Pincushion Summer Swap. She loves pink, as I do, so it wasn't difficult for me to chose between my favourite fabrics!! I love Heather Bailey's fabrics and the Swirlybuds in pink and fucshia from the Bijoux line is one of my favourites!! I chose to match it with the Scented Memories by Danhui Nai for Wilmington Prints, they have lovely fabrics too !!

The pincushion is almost done and it's all handmade. I love the way it's turning out! I'm also making a little extra in cross stitch. I hope my partner likes all of the goodies.

Mini Quilt Swap Sneak Peek

Hi, here's my first sneak peek of the Mini Quilt I'm doing for my partner in the Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap. I've done a little needle turn appliqué so far, and I have a long way to go...

It also will have a little bit of embroidery and fabric origami flowers like the one you can see finished. This is just a sample because it turned out to be too big. I did it with 3" squares and the ones I'm making right now are half the size of the sample, they are mini fabric origami flowers!

BAQ Nine Patch Block Swap...and Stained Glass Lamp

I'm back again with a new WISP finished.

As you know I live in Buenos Aires and here we have have contact through the BAQ (Buenos Aires Quilting) Forum where Gloria organizes wonderful swaps. This time she decided to give the patchwork rookies an opportunity to enter a swap, so she chose the easiest block to make : the Nine Patch block. We're divided into two groups 0f 14 and have to make two 9" Nine Patch blocks for each of our partners.

The BAQ Nine Patch Blocks are due by July 15th but have been on my "To Do List" for some weeks now, and I couldn't help myself, I had to get the work done! I really don't like to think every day that I owe some blocks, especially when my partners have almost finished them. So I just got to them and finished the 28 blocks and mailed them on Saturday. Now I'm at ease, I can breathe deep and rest just for two seconds before I get to continue on my Mini Quilt for the Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap!

In the picture you can also see one of my favourite things...Stained glass lamps! I love them and love the technique. I wanted to learn how to make them for so many years and finally my dream came true 3 years ago. This is one of the lamps I have made with the Mackintosh Rose that I absolutelly adore! I hope you also like it!

Meet Oliver with his new coat...

Hi, it's been a week since I last posted, I can't believe how time flies when you get to your sewing machine! But I love it!

This week I was able to finish some WISP that had been in my "To do list" for quite a while! My little dog Oliver, a long hair Chihuahua needed a new coat for this winter so I decided to try this free resizable dog coat pattern that I came across some time ago on the Net. I had to adjust it a little bit so that it'd fit Oli and I'm very happy with it. And I guees Oli is too because he didn't complain at all !! LOL

He's giving that look to me: "Let go with the pictures, I just want to go for a walk!!"

Well, after all, he's warm now, that's for sure!!

Annie arrived at her new home in Australia...

Finally, after a pit stop for a fabric shopping spree at the States...*kiddin'*; Annie arrived to her new home in Australia. She'll be very spoilt at Khris's home. By the smile on her face she already loves being there. And she didn't travel alone, she brought her little sister with her!

I also embroidered a little tag with a Prim Annie to keep as a souvenir for the Annie Swap. She's holding it on her hand. It's the first tag I make and I loved it, it's definitelly not going to be the last one!

Thank you Khris for being such a great partner, and a big thank you to Marcel for organizing this Swap, I enjoyed being a part of it!

Christmas Mini Quilt

Today I started to cut fabric for the Spring Mini Quilt Swap. Since I received the info of my partner on Saturday I've been looking around and trying to come up with a design that she would love. So after seeing lots of designs I decided what I'm gonna make for her, it's gonna be very springy indeed! And I'm thinking of making one for myself too! Well, that if time allows me but I'll do my best ! I'll be showing you sneak peeks of the progress. And while you wait for them I leave you with a picture of a Mini Quilt I designed last year at Christmas time for a fellow quilter in Uruguay. I used the cathedral windows technique that I love. I'm thinking of making one for myself this year. I hope you like it!

Needle turn appliqué...

Last week I went to a workshop to improve my needle turn appliqué skills and it worked! I'm really proud of the result. This new way of making needle turn appliqué implies more work but it compensates with better results. I think I'm addopting it!

Welcome to my blog, I can't believe I've finally opened one. And let me tell you I have the best way to enter in blogland, by showing to you the wonderful package that arrived today from Australia.

Last month I entered an Annie Swap at Aunt Pitty Pats blog and my partner was Khris from Sew Prim Khris.

My Annie arrived today together with some yummy chocolate and a beautiful needlecase.

Khris, you made it, I love the Annie you sew for me, it's just perfect. A big thank you to you!!

She already owns the cushion at the picture, and she told me she won't move to any other place!

She really has a character!

And the needlecase, well, you didn't know this, but I love needlecases and pincushions and this one is AMAZING, the fabrics you picked are gorgeous and so is the button.

You realized I didn't mention the chocolate... it's gone! LOL
